Bud Pawless

 

Fine Art Painter and Sculptor

“Recognized for his colorful and bold paintings and sculptor depicting the landscape and subjects of the American West”

The artist, who specializes in portraying the southwest, lives in Gainesville, Texas. “Art”, to Bud Pawless, “means knowing, loving and painting the majestic West.”

A native Californian, growing up with the Beach Boys, Rock n’ Roll and hot rods. Bud began his life as an artist always drawing hot rods and later working at car shows around Southern California air brushing hot rods on T-shirts and sweatshirts. Bud was always involved in music and the arts. Working his way through college as a drummer, Bud began to study art at the Laguna Beach School of Art. LCAD

He later moved back to Oklahoma/Texas area where his parents originated, attended and graduated from Cameron University, in Lawton, Oklahoma. While at Cameron, he studied in the art department in drawing, art history and visual, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional. He then had a tour of the US Army and began a successful career in banking of 43 years; after serving as President, he retired from the First State Bank of Saint Jo, Texas after serving twenty years with the bank.

Bud has also received special instruction from many special masters through out New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. Mostly being associated with the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.  This was a deciding factor for his art direction, focusing on Western art as the main subject.

Bud and his wife Mary Ann of 44 years, now live on their small ranch artistically named, “Paintbrush Ranch”. He and his wife enjoy working with their cattle and horses, which inspire Bud in many of his pieces.

Bud believes, “To see life sometimes you need to open more than your eyes”.
